  • Things to Note: There is no kitchen or access to a kitchen in the Garden Room Suite. The bathroom is a fully tiled, narrow space with antique style brass hardware and a merged shower and toilet area. Windows are not operable. Terrace door opens to Garden Terrace.

    The Rear Library Suite sits on the second floor of our 5-story 19th century Upper East Side Townhouse. The suite is accessed via our central staircase and consists of a bedroom, kitchenette and en-suite bathroom. The Bedroom looks over the rear of the house overlooking the house's garden, hidden cottage and neighboring gardens.

  • Located two flights above the house's entry hall foyer and away from the street with Southern exposure

  • The street view side of 1871House's second floor makes up the front bedroom of the Library Suite, a spacious suite whose North-facing oversized windows give a terrific midlevel portrait of the townhouse's neighbors.

  • An original marble fireplace mantle, parquet floors, and a nearly 10' ceiling form the backdrop for this wonderfully decorated, approximately 345 square foot suite.
  • A comfortable Ralph Lauren leather settee sits at the foot of a carved-wood QUEEN bed with rolling-pin headboard.
  • Marble bistro table w/bamboo bistro chairs, a Victorian washstand and Victorian dresser complete the bedroom's primary furnishings.
  • Prints of 18th and 19th century ante-rooms and throne-rooms.

  • Things to Note: The Front Library is located two flight up from the house's entry foyer. There is no kitchen or access to a kitchen in the Front Library unless booking both the Rear Library and the Front Library together. The bathroom is of vintage character and is a narrow space composed of a tiled tub/shower, pedestal sink and toilet.

    The Lexington Suite offers the unique advantage of two high-perched but radically diverging views, from the front and the back of this full-floor suite. From the front, the picture is of the tops of townhouses not unlike 1871 House, water towers rising above them, and a few larger, more recent apartment buildings reaching up beyond them at the fringes. A look through the window in one of the Lexington Suite's back bedrooms presents, instead, the figure of fully realized modernity, with a few of the soaring skyscrapers of Midtown, including the just-completed new addition to the NYC skyline, the enormous residential building at 432 Park Avenue.
