The Madison Suite extends from front to back thereby providing two special sets of views: the facing row of timeless townhouses and activity of 62nd street to the North and a cityscape view of skyscrapers, as well as 1871 House’s lovely garden terrace below, to the South. The bedroom of the apartment, located in the rear of the apartment, is furnished with a queen bed. Adjacent to the bedroom, there is a small adjacent room that can be used as a den/office or for storing your luggage during your stay. It is currently furnished with a table and chair. The apartment is located 3 flights above the entry hall level.

Things to Know:
As 1871 House is a historical building and retains much of its 19th Century structure, it is not suited for all accessibility needs.
The charming, late 1800s townhouse, is not a modern structure – think creaky floorboards and sloping wood floors.
There’s no elevator in the building and the apartment is three flights up from the entry hall level. Guests are responsible for transporting their luggage to their accommodations.
The apartment does not have an intercom/buzzer system.
Pets & Smoking are not permitted.
The kitchen is small and a bit older, but still good enough to prepare your morning coffee and other basics;
As this is NYC, you shouldn’t expect the streets below to be quiet – there may be construction or traffic noise nearby.
Starting rates are based on single occupancy.
One TV is provided. We include a ROKU device for streaming.
There are many free channels to watch as well as fee-based programming. To watch fee-based channels, you must be a subscriber and login with your own username and password.

The Rear Library Suite sits on the second floor of our 5-story 19th century Upper East Side Townhouse, 2 flights above the entry hall level. The suite is accessed via our central staircase and consists of a bedroom, kitchenette and en-suite bathroom. The room looks over the rear of the house overlooking the house's garden, hidden cottage and neighboring gardens.

The street view side of 1871House's second floor makes up the front bedroom of the Library Suite, a spacious suite whose North-facing oversized windows give a terrific midlevel portrait of the townhouse's neighbors.
An original marble fireplace mantle, parquet floors, and a nearly 10' ceiling form the backdrop for this wonderfully decorated, approximately 345 square foot suite.
A comfortable Ralph Lauren leather settee sits at the foot of a carved-wood QUEEN bed with rolling-pin headboard.
Marble bistro table w/bamboo bistro chairs, a Victorian washstand and Victorian dresser complete the bedroom's primary furnishings.
Prints of 18th and 19th century ante-rooms and throne-rooms.
